Civil Services are evictions, protection orders, writs of restitution, civil assists, property seizures, and sheriff sales. Documents received after 3:30 p.m. may be processed the next business day.
Fees
Fees for service must be paid in advance. Find specific fees and costs here. Fees are set by State Statute and Douglas County Resolution 010-014. Any refund due will be noted on your statement, which will be mailed with the sheriff’s affidavit of service or non-service. The county treasurer mails refunds once a month.
Service of Process
Attempted services of papers are based upon the information you provide.
Complete the Civil Process Information Sheet and include all information that will help us successfully serve your papers. Received documents are processed and sent out for service as quickly as workload and staff resources allow with service generally made within two weeks of receipt. All documents received are treated with due diligence. There are NO provisions for ‘expedited service’ except in the case of protection orders.
Protection Orders are obtained by filing a complaint or petition directly with the courts. Please contact the Court Clerk at 720-437-6200 or visit their website for more information.
Evictions and Writs of Restitution
After you have obtained a judgment for possession, you get a writ of restitution from the courts. You will need to bring the writ of restitution to the Sheriff’s Office to schedule the time for the eviction.
