September is National Preparedness Month Are you prepared for an emergency? What would you do if you had to evacuate or shelter in place? Here are three things to think about to think ahead:
Sign up for emergency alerts. CodeRED is Douglas County’s emergency alert system. It’s free to sign up, and you can receive a call, text, email, or all three in the event of an emergency. Make a note to check and test your registration every year on your birthday.

Sign up for evacuation assistance, if needed. If you need help evacuating during an emergency, make sure you are signed up for the Douglas County Access and Functional Needs Registry. The information you provide may be used to assist emergency personnel and volunteers in providing you assistance during an emergency.
