Work Release Program

The work release program offers judges an alternative placement option for sentencing. It allows inmates to maintain employment and provide for their families. In a balance between public safety and the need for the inmate to work, there are strict requirements for participation in the work release program.

Requirements :

You will need to bring the Work Release Information Packet with you when turning yourself in to start your sentence.  It is recommended that you contact the Work Release Coordinator one week prior to turning yourself in.

The inmate must pay to participate in work release.  The amount varies from $15.00 to $80.00 per day depending on the inmates annual gross income. Click here to view Work Release Fees.   Inmates wear a GPS tracking monitor which requires a one-time activation fee of $75.00. All inmates in the program will be searched upon returning at the end of their work day. Items necessary for work (clothing, identification, car keys) are kept in a locked area and not allowed within the housing areas.

If an inmate is approved for work release, the coordinator will review their booking file, criminal history and employment information. The jail does not allow sentences to be served on weekends. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center does not currently have a weekender program.

Any violations of the conditions of work release may result in being terminated from the program.

The work release coordinator can be reached at 303-814-7073, workrelease@dcsheriff.net, or the fillable form below.
