Law enforcement officials, community leaders, and legislators stood together as a new bill was introduced to combat auto theft.
Sheriff Weekly, who attended today’s press conference at the Capitol, fully supports this new legislation, taking a more aggressive approach to auto theft and the penalties imposed upon the offenders.
“Auto theft is a serious problem that affects us all. It is the nexus to many other crimes such as burglary, robbery, vehicle break-ins, drug possession, and many others,” said Sheriff Weekly. “I am committed to doing everything possible to ensure our community is kept safe and these criminals are held accountable. This new legislation will be a great step in that direction.”
